getting really slow after a while

1380 albums and it feels as if my dual core AMD was replaced by a Z80. Wonder what's causing that, since some other similar programs (ok, commercial ones, granted) seem to have a better strategy on how to cache album covers. Besides not being able to get the covers out of the ID3v2 tags, asking me to provide 'folder.jpg' files, the program is quite interesting since it offers most things. Ah another one, it's not able to read the different year frames (rec/rel dates) from v2.3 and v2.4 and combinations of these, thus if only 1 date is tagged the program simply tells year = 0. Anyway, keeping in mind that it's some 50 bucks cheaper but others it bypassed most of them in some caagories, thus in the end I'm really impressed.

  • On catalog view slow down: when does it slow down ? when creating thumbs ? when filtering albums ? when sorting them ? when scrolling among covers ? Did you change the number of albums per page ?

Note that we are working on memory enhancements in 1.4.2. Thumbs will be created by an external java process so thumbnails creation will no more use large amount of memory.

  • On covers / folder.jpg : don't really see what you mean. Jajuk simply find covers in audio files directories but cover files don't have to be named by a particular name. You can set a cover as a default using the Default button in cover view if you have several local covers.

On MP3 covers, we plan to work on it but we are limited currently by ID3 libraries. o On iD3 V2.4, we plan to provide a better support in 1.5 thanks external libraries evolutions.
