UI bug when selecting rows in physical table view

Reported by: rmpp Owned by: bflorat
Priority: 5, normal Milestone:
Component: User Interface Version: R 0.2
Keywords: Cc:

Description

after start-up everything works well... for several
minutes.
after using the filter by title/interpret etc. feature
several times I'm no longer able to choose a displayed
item from the list beyonda certain position (this may
varry. it happend to me that position 4 was the last to
be choosen.).
furthermore I'm no longer allowed to make any changes
in the playlist editor window. that means I can't
delete or move entries.

I'm running GNU/Linux kernel version 2.6.4-54.5 on x86
and java version 1.4.2_03

Hi, thanks for your bug report.
I cannot reproduce the problem. If I sum up, the use case is:
- In the physical perspective/physical table view, you
filter by author, then by title etc... do you use the filter
button or [enter] ?
- After some times, you select a row ( what do you mean by
select? drag and drop to the playlist editor, drag n drop to
the playlist repository, play by double clic, play by
contextual menu...?) and then the row is displayed but
nothing appends?

>furthermore I'm no longer allowed to make any changes
in the playlist editor window. that means I can't
delete or move entries.

Is is linked with the previous problem? Does it occur only
after the previous problem began ?
How do you make changes? By Drag and drop from another view,
using buttons in the playlist editor, using contectual menu
on rows?

- I usually use [enter]

- 'select' means I click on an entry in the list the color
changes...it is marked as 'selected'. this doesn't work
anymore resulting in failure of any drag'n'drop attempts.

- yes, these problems are linked. when an item in the
playlist editor is selected one second later the selection
switches to the first item in the list. therefore it is not
possible to make any changes in the list (I can only add
more songs).

I assume there are 2 different bugs

First one: selection failed
Sum up : Physical perspective/physical table view : After
using file filter by enter several timers, user cannot
select by single clic a row in the physical table :
selection is not taken into account.
I'm sorry but I cannot reproduce it. Please send me your
home directory/.jajuk/jajuk.log file at bertrand@florat.net
if it contains some errors. Or try to upgrade to last JRE
(1.5 beta 2) and please give me some feedback.

Second problem:
Use case : Physical perspective/physical playlist editor,
when QUEUE playlist is selected, user cannot select a row
because first row is automaticaly selected after one second.
This is not a bug but a special behavior of the Queue
playlist : this one cannot be changed like others because it
represents running songs. Note that some changes should
occur about this in futur Jajuk releases. If your problem
occurs when selecting another playlist than Queue one,
please tell me so.

Thanks for your collaboration

sorry for the delay. have been away for some days.

allright, so we can forget about the second problem.

the log file contains no errors at all.
I'll come back to you after upgrading my JRE. this may take
some time (->dial up only).

Hi,
Please also give me more information:
- How many items do you have in the table when problem occurs?
- Can you always select rows with position <4 ?
- When you select a row, on which column do you click ?
- Do you do a queek click or a long one like for Drag and drop?
- What does it append for row you want to select : it is
just not colorized, right ?
- Try to give me a detailled use case in filter : does it
append when you change the filter or just values ?

Thanks for your collaboration. Note that Jajuk 0.2.1 with
many bug fixes will be out next friday.

e.g. filter by 'artist' keyword 'dre'
- returns 58 items
- no item beyond position 28 can be selected
the same is true for every keyword returning more than 28 items.
using keyword 'linkin park'
- returns 26 items
- everything works well

I discovered a new funny behavior:
trying to drag'n'drop any item >28 has the same effect as
[shift]+mouse down...sort of.
all items from the last selected to the one on any position
>28 are selected. moving the mouse up and down the list with
left mouse key pressed changes the selection range according
to mouse position.
however, drag'n'drop doesn't work on this selection.
