Sort queue view (and also playlist view)

Description (last modified by fsck222) (diff)

I believe Jajuk *must* offer at least the same sorting possibility as a trivial music player such as xmms. This means:

  • We must be able to re-order the queue view and also the queue view using the columns of the table.

The following must be available by the right click menu:

  • Inverse the selection
  • randomize selection
  • remove selection
  • move selection up/down, top/bottom

Well, I'm not sure this is a good idea. What are the expected benefits of this ? please detail your use cases.

It would be possible to make the columns sortable but then, how to reorder the queue by playing order ? we could add a kind of "reset ordering" button in the queue view command panel or as a contextual menu item but I don't thing we should complexify the GUI further here for a probably small use case.

Another possibility is to add a playing order column. But I see new problems here: - If the columns is hidden by default (should be IMO to save space), user can don't know the column selector popup and cannot display the column and anyway, we have to show a new column only to make possible to reorder the queue. - If the column is visible by default (or even when user select it from the column selector), it would probably makes things confusing between playing order and track order and it takes space (the title is long "playing order" if we want to make things clear)

What do you think ?

BTW, I can't see this feature in the XMMS playlist editor (I don't see sorting at all).

Update: I have another idea : we could use the play column in this purpose:

  • Adding a tooltip on each play icon to show the playing order
  • sorting the play column allow to reorder the queue

What do you think ?

Replying to bflorat:

In "playlist editor" view, click on the bottom icon: "MISC OPT". BTW xmms is out-of-date, it is best to use audacious that has 100% of xmms functionality (even the same skin).

Hi,

some news on that?

I really would like to just d&d a track, from files tree or files table, directly at a special position inside the queue list, e.g. at second position.
Actually this d&d'ed track will be added at the end of the queue list, also when using the right click option 'push', and it is very uncomfortable to move a track up from e.g. position 100 up to 2 ;)
